Enjoying a glass of wine or pint of beer at the airport is a popular way to kill time while waiting for your flight.
For some, it’s an essential pre-holiday ritual, while for others it’s a fun way to switch off and signal the vacation mindset.
But not all airports are designed with this in mind, and some are better-equipped for pre-flight drinks than others.
Now, the worst US airport for a boozy layover has been revealed.
Daniel K Inouye International Airport in Honolulu, Hawaii, was ranked as the worst airport in the United States for a boozy experience.
This is due to limited bar options and low bar ratings that don’t match the tropical cocktail vibe travelers expect, according to Upgraded Points.
The website analysed data from individual airport websites and Google Reviews, ranking the 50 largest US airports based on three key factors.
These were the concentration of bars and restaurants serving alcohol per square mile, the accessibility of these places per 10,000 passengers and the average star rating of venues serving alcohol.

The Hawaii spot was ranked lowest in the list.
It was followed by Oakland International Airport in California.
This was due to poor accessibility and quality, as it had fewer high-rated bars than other California airports.
On the other end of the scale, plenty of US airports were ranked highly.
Logan International Airport in Boston was crowned the best airport for a boozy layover.
It ranked well for all three categories, gaining the impressive title.
It comes after it was revealed that Gen Z are ditching pints at the airport – in favour of healthier options.
Four in 10 Gen Z travellers – people born from the mid-1990s to the early 2010s – are now choosing juices and smoothies over alcohol, new research has revealed.

Nonetheless, plenty of travellers are still opting for alcohol before a flight.
Earlier this year, the UK airports where travellers can enjoy the cheapest pints and full English breakfasts were revealed.
In the study of more than 140 UK airport bars and restaurants, London came out on top.
Stansted Airport, London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Birmingham International and Edinburgh Airport all tie for the cheapest pint of either Coors Light or Bud Light at just £5.20.
