Economy air travel isn’t exactly known for luxury, which is why any complimentary extras are always a welcome bonus to make the journey a little more enjoyable.
And if you love a mid-flight snack but want to steer clear of pricey airport food, you’re in luck – as there’s a little-known freebie available on many flights.
Flight service manager and Love Is Blind star, Ashleigh Berry shared with the Daily Mail some of the biggest in-flight perks that passengers always seem to miss.
She said: ‘There’s probably areas on a plane that you don’t even know about that have got things for our guests.’
First up? Complimentary snack baskets, which Ashleigh says are usually located in the galleys and within areas she refers to as ‘secret wonder walls’.
In premium, a deluxe snack box hidden in the ‘wonder wall’ contains everything from Virgin’s premium crisps and gummy sweets, to eye masks and extra pairs of socks.
Ashleigh said of the hidden stash: ‘Sometimes our customers aren’t aware of it, even if they purchased the ticket knowing it’s there.’
As for passengers in economy, there are still plenty of hidden joys.

Another secret snack basket – typically located in the galley – is filled with a range of treats, from Oreo biscuits to chocolate to mini packets of crisps.
One travel writer shared with The Express how she stumbled across the treasure trove as she made her way to the bathroom in economy.
After questioning a flight attendant about the stash, she revealed she was permitted to ‘help herself’ to Cadbury’s chocolate, mini pretzels and biscuits – and even free refills of orange and apple juice.
Ashleigh added: ‘If it’s not on display, come into the galley and ask the cabin crew for anything else that’s not been offered.’
And it’s not just food and snacks on offer, either.
‘A really crucial thing that customers need to know about,’ Ashleigh says, ‘is that in the toilets we have sanitary pads and hygiene products available for you.
‘They are just under the sink, and you can absolutely help yourself to them, they are for you.
You just press the button under the sink and they are generally there. I often get asked for those products and they are all available to our wonderful customers.
