Ryanair charged a doctor £100 who missed their flight after helping a woman who had a ‘worrying head injury’.
The budget airline has a strict set of rules that it follows, often without budging.
And its firm approach to baggage and boarding restrictions has left many passengers with extra fees to pay.
One holidaymaker discovered this after they stopped to help an elderly passenger who had fallen on an escalator, The Guardian reports.
They were due to jet off from London Stansted to Pescara, Italy when the incident happened.
‘I was nearing the departure gate when an elderly woman fell down an escalator. I am a doctor and stopped to help,’ they told the publication.
‘She had sustained a broken wrist, deep cuts and a worrying head injury and I had to stem the bleeding until staff and paramedics arrived.’
The passenger explained how they asked airport staff to make the gate aware they would be late because of a ‘medical emergency’.

However, when they did manage to reach the gate it was 15 minutes before the flight was due to depart and had completely closed.
In the end, the traveller had to rebook and wait in the airport for six hours with a young baby.
They shared what happened to Ryanair who would not refund the £100 fee to rebook the tickets.
The airline told the Daily Mail: ‘It is each passenger’s responsibility to present at the boarding gate at least 30 mins before their scheduled departure time.
‘This passenger failed to present at the gate before it closed and missed boarding for this flight from London Stansted to Pescara.
‘Should this passenger have presented at the boarding gate desk before it closed, they would have boarded this flight alongside the 154 passengers who did present at the gate on time.’
In Ryanair’s rules of carriage, it states: ‘You should be at the boarding gate for your flight at least 30 minutes before the departure time.’
‘The boarding gate will close 30 minutes before departure. If you arrive at the boarding gate later than this, you will not be allowed on the plane.
‘If you want to travel on a later flight, you will have to pay the appropriate fare for that flight.’
It comes after Daniel Sakal, 34, from Essex, arrived at London Stansted Airport on 4 September, after a work trip to Nice, in France and found his bag damaged.

A drone controller and extension lead he used for work also appeared to have been left significantly damaged.
Daniel said the £200 bag was a gift from his wife and the total amount of the damage is £1,500.
The photographer, whose belongings were spilling onto the floor, said he was given a bin liner to carry the fragments home.
Ryanair told the Daily Mail: ‘Baggage handling at Nice Airport is provided by a third party (not Ryanair) but is paid for by Ryanair.’
