Tucked away in the Suffolk countryside is a quaint village that on first glance appears to be frozen in time.
Lavenham has a small population of around 1,200 villagers but comes with a rich history.
Narrow streets are lined with characterful timber-framed houses painted in different colours.
It might be small, but the village is bustling with independent cafés, tearooms and restaurants as well as a range of shops.
Lavenham boasts a large market square lined with Tudor architecture and has 15th-century churches.
Earlier this year, the Daily Mail listed Lavenham as one of the UK’s ‘prettiest villages’ after speaking with estate agents and property experts.
The village has plenty of charm, from its timbered cottages, crooked houses and enchanting woodlands.
Lavenham is also well-known for providing the location for Godric’s Hollow in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part One.

Often described as being ‘frozen in time’, it’s one of the best-preserved medieval villages in the country, according to Love Lavenham.
Meanwhile, in the Tudor period, it was the 14th wealthiest town in the country and had strong wool manufacturers.
However, as the economy and industry changed, Lavenham became less prosperous.
Eventually, locals were not able to renovate buildings and this meant many of the characterful structures still stand today.
An award-winning farmers market takes place every month and visitors can also enjoy the biannual Literary Festival.
Back in 2023, Lavenham was also crowned the most stylish place to live in the UK, according to a survey.
In second place was Morpeth in Northumberland, Selborne in Hampshire was third, Richmond in North Yorkshire was fourth and Nuneham Courtenay in Oxfordshire was fifth.
Locations were ranked according to the beauty of the buildings, the stunning scenery and their popularity with artists and as a filming location.

The results came from a survey of 5,000 people by online store Furniturebox which set up panels throughout the UK to find the most stylish location for each county and big city.
Lavenham also made headlines in 2020 when Britain’s wonkiest house, which is thought to be more than 600 years old, was put on sale for £525,000.
Thought to be the inspiration for the classic children’s nursery rhyme There Was a Crooked Man, the medieval Crooked House – which goes by no other name – is a staple of an otherwise-famous wool town.
