A female solo traveller has shared her nightmare journey after being forced to share a double bed with a stranger on a sleeper bus.
Eden Kelly, 26, from Australia, was embarking on a 10-hour journey on a bus in Cambodia – but since she was travelling alone, she had to share her space.
She shared a video of her travels on her Instagram account @_eddenn_, captioning the post: ‘10.5 hrs on a sleeper bus being paired with a total stranger in a SMALL double bedy.’
In the clip, she said: ‘I don’t know what gender, I don’t know who they are.’
She then meets her bunk buddy, after strolling down the aisle to get to her cabin.
Eden says: ‘I’ve been in a few awkward situations in my life, but I feel like this one actually takes the cake.’
Later in the video, she says: ‘So we have an update, as you can see, now it’s just me.’
It turns out her bunk mate requested to be moved.

Eden said: ‘I’m offended, I’m a little bit sad, but it’s fine because now I get a whole bed to myself.’
She explains the reason for the situation is that beds were in groups of two, so she was randomly assigned to share with the man.
She also shared footage of some friends of hers, a man and woman sharing a bed nearby.
The humorous video racked up more than 765,492 likes, with viewers taking to the comments section to share their thoughts.
One wrote: ‘In front of him you said it was the most awkward situation you’ve been it, I’d move too. I don’t want to put someone else in an awkward situation.’
A second added: ‘I’m not surprised he asked to be moved. Seemed like he just wanted to chill out and keep himself to himself, then you pitched up with your camera and started yapping.
‘Being polite and ‘consenting’ aren’t the same thing.’
A third commented: ‘He was so considerate and knew she wasn’t feeling comfortable and accommodated for her and moved. Well done king!’
Sleeper buses can either be luxurious modes of travel, or a nightmare in disguise. For one female solo traveller, it was the latter (stock)
Another viewer echoed this, saying: ‘He probably asked to move to make it less uncomfortable for you as you’re a woman.’
Others were shocked that the situation had arisen, with one writing: ‘I would’ve booked two spots, ain’t NO WAY I’d share an overnight bus and a bed with a stranger.’
Another chimed in: ‘It’s inappropriate to be in bed with the opposite sex in a lot of cultures.
‘He might have been trying to be respectful by asking to be moved.’
