The world’s first Pokémon theme park is set to open in 2026 in Japan.
The Pokémon Company announced that the grand opening date of PokéPark KANTO will be in early 2026.
Spanning more than 26,000 square meters, PokéPark KANTO is set to be the first permanent outdoor Pokémon attraction.
It will be located in Yomiuriland, Tokyo’s largest amusement park.
Advance ticket sales are expected to begin in late 2025.
Travel account @backpacking shared the news on Instagram, saying: ‘Japan just announced one of its most exciting openings yet – PokéPark KANTO, the world’s first permanent outdoor Pokémon theme park, officially opening in February 2026 in Tokyo!’
It added: ‘Located inside Yomiuriland, this 2.6-hectare park brings the Pokémon world to life with two immersive zones.’
The first immersive zone is set to be Pokémon Forest, a 500-metre nature trail where visitors can discover more than 600 Pokémon hidden.

The Pokémon Forest will have hilly paths, tall grass, tunnels, rocky trails, and more – in which you can find the hidden Pokémon.
According to the park’s website, this will be a ‘lush woodland where Pokémon thrive in the wild’.
The second will be Sedge Town, featuring themed shops, a Pokémon Centre, parades, shows, and attractions inspired by characters such as Pikachu, Eevee, and more.
The official website described this area as a ‘bustling town where Pokémon and Trainers from around the world meet and forge new friendships’.
Tickets are set to be extremely popular, with the post adding: ‘Tickets will be sold through a lottery system starting late 2025, with different pass options offering varying levels of access – including full entry to the Forest for Ace Trainers.’
An initial lottery and pre-sale system will be used for ticket sales from November 21, 2025, the Independent reported.
Two main ticket types have been announced: the Trainer’s Pass and the Ace Trainer’s Pass.

This will be the first permanent Pokémon-themed attraction, however various exhibitions and displays have popped up before.
Earlier this year, Seoul, Korea saw a Pokémon fantasyland pop-up in an area in the city.
Plus, other pop-ups have taken place in places such as Singapore.
Pokémon is a Japanese media franchise that was established in 1996.
